I was the Lead Visual Designer for the new Jaguar E-Pace, overseeing the project from initial concept through to final production. My primary role was to design and deliver the user interface (UI) for the instrument cluster, ensuring it embodied Jaguar’s legacy of craftsmanship and innovation.
Drawing inspiration from Jaguar’s rich history of physical “jewellery” and items of affordance—such as intricate analogue dials and tactile controls—I set out to create a design that would resonate with this heritage. The goal was to craft a visual experience that not only paid homage to these classic design principles but also felt modern and immersive.
The interface was meticulously designed to evoke a sense of physicality and tangibility, as if the user could reach out and touch the cluster’s elements. By incorporating depth, form, and subtle material cues, I aimed to strike a balance between digital innovation and the timeless appeal of analogue instrumentation, reinforcing the feeling of quality, precision, and familiarity that Jaguar is known for
